Pactola Heights, South Dakota


Pactola Heights Subdivision is in the Central Black Hills, conveniently located near several South Dakota cities and attractions:

  • Rapid City (15 miles, typical 20 minute drive) - The 2nd largest city in South Dakota. Home to the South Dakota School of Mines and Western Dakota Tech. Home to the region's only large indoor event arena, the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center which hosts concerts and major statewide and regional annual events such as the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo. Rapid City is known as the “City of Presidents” with bronze statutes on the downtown street corners. During the summer, free concerts are held on the closed of streets of downtown.
  • Rapid City Regional Airport (25 miles, typical 45 minute drive) - A transportation hub airport accessible by major airlines with service to and from Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and Nashville.
  • Monument Healthcare(20 miles) - A world-class Mayo Clinic medical consortium of a major Hospital and several clinics covering emergency, occupational care and doctor's offices located conveniently in Rapid City.
  • Hill City (13 miles) - A quaint Black Hills town with restaurants, tourist attractions and the Hill City School District providing a recognized superior education for grades K-12.
  • Deadwood (24 miles) - South Dakota’s only recognized gambling city, it is the home to the history of the Black Hills. Hotels, restaurants, casinos, all the excitement and adventure one could stand.
  • Lead (24 miles) - A unique city housing the underground Sanford Neutrino Lab.
  • Sturgis (29 miles, typical 65 minute drive) - While most of the time Sturgis is a little hamlet, for 2-weeks in August it is the largest center of population in South Dakota and international mecca of motorcycle enthusiasts. Pactola Heights Subdivision is on the main route from Sturgis to Mount Rushmore.
  • Spearfish (40 miles) - Home to Black Hills State University.
  • Mount Rushmore National Memorial (24 miles) - World recognized attraction.
  • Crazy Horse Memorial (27 miles) - Mountain carving-in-progress with world-class museum of artifacts
  • Custer State Park (29 miles) - Wildlife loop with live buffalo, donkeys, prairie dogs and others.

  • Terry Peak Ski Area (30 miles) - Winter sports area with several lodges including skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling with over 300 miles of trails.
  • Centennial 89 Trail (Adjacent to west property boundary) - The Centennial Trail is a 111 mile long trail from Bear Butte State Park to Wind Cave National Park. Activities include hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
